Symposium sheds light on malaria

MUSCAT: The Department of Biochemistry at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences organised a symposium on malaria on Tuesday under the title “Impact of imported asymptomatic parasitaemia on the prospect of malaria elimination”. Due to adequate logistical and political support, malaria control has progressed steadily in the GCC countries. As a result, transmission has been interrupted throughout the region, except for limited sites in southwest Saudi Arabia and sporadic cases in Oman.
