Tehran: Iranian President Hassan Rowhani will seek re-election, he said on Friday as he registered to appear on the ballot. “Should the voters want me, then I will take on this difficult mission for another four years,” he said in the Interior Ministry after he registered as a candidate for the May 19 election. He said his campaign promises this time will largely mirror those he made in 2013, noting that those that have not already been fulfilled would be tackled during a second term. He said his priorities will be establishing a modern and rational foreign policy, implementing economic reforms, minimising unemployment and promoting societal freedoms for Iranians. Rownahi said on Friday in comments carried by the ISNA news agency that he would consider the nuclear deal inviolable were he to win a second term. He further noted the political and economic wins that came with the deal. — dpa
