Centre to treat spine and sports injuries opens in Nizwa

By Amal Al Riyami — NIZWA: May 2 - A specialised centre for the treatment of joints, spine and sports injuries has been opened in Nizwa. It offers rehabilitation and physiotherapy for athletes and other accident victims. The opening ceremony was presided over by Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Executive Chairman of Scientific Council for Medical Specialties, in the presence of Hamad bin Salim al Aghbari, Wali of Nizwa. The centre, the first of its kind in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, includes integrated physiotherapy services for all types of muscular injuries. Dr Ahmed bin Ibrahim al Kharousi, the supervisor of the centre, said: “We provide many services, especially for athletes, as a result of the increasing number of injured people from various accidents and those who need specialised care.” The centre, he said, aims to provide high-quality service and a choice of therapeutic methods and increase the motor capacity and speed in rehabilitation and healing. The centre includes a number of departments and provides many services, including physiotherapy of muscles and joints, rehabilitation for sports injuries, and joints of the limbs and spine, relaxation programmes and natural therapy in general.
