Rains continue around Al Hajar Mountains

By Staff Reporter — MUSCAT: May 13 - Areas surrounding the Al Hajar mountains continued to receive moderate and heavy rainfall on Saturday, with reports of flowing wadis. According to an official at the Oman Meteorology, “The rains have stopped in Rustaq, but it is continuing in places like Ibra, Yanqul and Ibra. There are chances of rains in some parts of Muscat at night.” For Sunday, the weather will be dry for most parts of Oman, with day temperatures around 35 degrees in Muscat. “Clear to partly cloudy skies over Al Wusta and Dhofar governorates with chances of isolated rain occasionally thundershowers. Mainly clear skies over the rest of the Sultanate with chances of convective clouds development and isolated rain occasionally thundershowers over Musandam, Hajar Mountains and adjoining governorates may associated with fresh downdraft wind, hail and blowing dust towards afternoon and evening. Chances of late night to early morning low clouds along the coastal areas of Arabian sea,” the forecast for Sunday said. Meanwhile, Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA), on Friday said it managed to help two people stranded inside a vehicle in Amerat and they are in good health. Similarly, it also managed to rescue five people who were stuck in Wadi al Sharqi in Ibra.
