Khat smuggling attempt foiled

MUSCAT: The Directorate of Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances at the Dhofar Governorate Police Command in cooperation with the Special Task Force Unit foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs into the Sultanate, an official with Royal Oman Police (ROP) said. The defendant tried to smuggle khat by using a 4WD vehicle but he was arrested at the Hareet area after making a failed escape attempt. The police found 500 bundles of khat in the vehicle.
