ROP sets up security checkpoint

MUSCAT: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has activated a security checkpoint and service centre at Hamraa Al Diroa on the road linking the governorates of Al Dhahirah and Al Dakhiliyah. The move comes as part of the efforts made by ROP to secure the roads leading to Dhofar Governorate during the Salalah Tourism Festival. The road witnesses heavy traffic at this time of the year as large numbers of citizens and residents beside citizens from the GCC countries make their way to Dhofar Governorate to attend the festival and enjoy fine weather. The checkpoint is run by personnel from Al Dhahirah Governorate Police Command, the Special Tasks Unit of the (Ibri), the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (Ibri) and the Directorate of Traffic (Ibri). — ONA
