Graduates learn tips to get jobs

Arwa al Khayari - An Open Day was held at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) to help university graduates find suitable jobs as many have remained without a job for years after their graduation. The Centre of Career Guidance at SQU had organised the programme whose theme was ‘Leading Into Work’. Participants were divided into different groups which discussed their problems in finding jobs. They also dwelt on job interviews. Some presented their experiences on getting a job quickly. Since many companies and institutions do not consider their degrees, the groups looked at ways to enhance graduates’ skills vis-à-vis language, motivation for work and social communication. The programme looked at developing the basic skills of graduates looking for work. The workshops conducted during the programme covered team work, responsibilities, stakeholder mapping, risk management, problem-solving, breakthrough thinking, and other skills needed in the job market.
