MOSCOW: Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov (pictured) expressed opposition on Wednesday to imposing further economic sanctions on North Korea, saying the “opportunities for economic pressure have practically been exhausted.” “We cannot support the ideas that some of our partners continue to put forward and that literally aim to economically strangle North Korea,” Lavrov said in comments carried by state news agency TASS. Lavrov met with South Korea’s ambassador to Russia, Park Ro Byug, during the day to exchange opinions about issues concerning bilateral relations, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a terse statement. — dpa
