Shop owner fined for trading in non-smoked tobacco

A Court of First Instance in Muscat issued a judicial ruling against a shop owner for trading in illegal goods and sentenced him to imprisonment and a fine. As per  the charge, officers of Public Authority for Consumer Protection (PACP) found during the periodical inspections of establishments, that the accused sold and traded non-smoked tobacco in commercial quantities. He was referred to the judicial authorities to complete the legal proceedings, which sentenced him to three months' imprisonment, a  financial guarantee of RO100 shall be issued and the accused shall be released upon appeal and shall be ordered to be released accordingly unless he is detained for any other reason.
