Eid al Adha celebrations across Sultanate

A large celebration was held at the Al Safin village in the Wilayat of Ibri on the occasion of Eid al Adha, yesterday. The celebration included traditional shows and dances, Ardha races by purebred Arabian horses, equestrian shows and traditional horsemanship as well as poetry recitations and competitions. Citizens of Al Balda Al Jadeeda and Hilat Al Shaikh staged a celebratory march which started from the service road and finished near the Wali’s Office where they were received by Shaikh Muhanna bin Saif al Lamki, Governor of North Al Batinah Governorate. Led by local dignitaries, crowds of citizens chanted songs expressive of Oman’s glorious past and flourishing present. Children from the Wilayat of Al Kamil W’al Wafi in South Al Sharqiyah Governorate express their happiness as they receive Eidiyah (money given to children by their parents, relatives or neighbours on the occasion of Eid), on the second day of Eid al Adha, yesterday.
