Fisheries labs set to boost output, job opportunities

The Supreme Council for Planning reviewed Oman’s economic performance report, GDP indicators, low inflation rates, and reviewed the performance of Muscat Securities Market (MSM) during the third quarter of the current year. The meeting was chaired by Dr Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Planning. The council discussed the measures taken for the approved projects and ways to address the challenges facing the implementation of some of these projects and alternative funding sources. The meeting reviewed the implementation of the initiatives and projects of the National Programme for Enhancing Economic Diversification (Tanfeedh), in addition to main economic indicators and the target value of diversification programmes. The council hailed the launch of fisheries laboratories which will come out with projects aimed at increasing the contribution of this sector, providing new job opportunities in the fisheries sector and other related sectors as one of the five sectors underpinning the Ninth Five-Year Development Plan.
