12.5 per cent rise in housing site allotment

The Muscat Governorate saw a 24.5 per cent increase in the allotment of residential plots in August 2017, leaving behind all other governorates, said the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). However, the Sultanate, with 19,505 plots having been allotted, saw a 12.5 per cent dip at the end of August as against 22,299 in the same period last year. While 582 plots were granted in the Governorate of Muscat, 545 were granted in the Governorate of Al Dakhiliyah. A total of 2,081 plots were granted in Muscat Governorate at the end of August as against 1,499 in the same period last year. A total of 1,152 plots were allotted in Musandam Governorate as against 196, a 487.8 per cent increase. The number of plots granted in South Al Batinah saw a 32.7 per cent rise to 5,185 as against 3,908. A total of 704 plots were allotted in Al Buraimi, a 170.8 per cent growth, as against 260. Al Dakhiliyah allotted 4,485 plots as against 4,257. Al Wusta 906 (589); and North Al Batinah 437 (2,783), a 84.3 per cent decline. — ONA
