A rare exhibition by Sharifa Al Maruby using fused glass as medium of art will open on Wednesday, the September 27, 2017 at 7pm at Gallery Sarah. Sharifa, a holder of an MSC degree in Economics, produced her first masterpiece at the age of 12. Whilst her interest was initially in black and white portraits, it later evolved into beautiful landscapes of neutral colors. The colourful clothing and intricate jewelry, typical of Omani culture and heritage have been the main inspiration in Sharifa’s choice of colours and sceneries. Her experimentation with different techniques and styles is clearly reflected in the variety of her eye catching pieces. Sharifa’s paintings are protected between two pieces of glass which are fused together at high temperatures. A touch of genuine 21 karat liquid gold adds the required elegance to some of her pieces. Her work is currently owned by collectors in Europe, Australia and the Middle East. The exhibition will run until October 12, 2017.
