North Sharqiyah wins first place in National Song Contest

Muscat, Sept 30 - The Directorate-General of Education in North Sharqiyah Governorate won the first place in the field of integrated work in the National Song Contest for the academic year 2016-17. The competition was organised by the Ministry of Education. It included writing poetry, composing texts and playing musical instruments. The governorate was ranked high in student scholarships for their work on heritage. It saw participation from School of Hanzalah Bin Abi Amer, Al Jalandi School, Ka’ab Ibn Amr School and Abdul Rahman Bin Abi Bakr School. Yazid ben Ali al Hajri from Ka’b bin Amr School for Basic Education was ranked first for playing oud. In writing clear texts, Amal bint Hamad al Sharjieh from the Inventor School for Basic Education won the second place. Mahmoud bin Saeed al Aghbari, Assistant Director-General of General Directorate of Education for North Eastern Educational Assessment and Educational Programs, said: “I would like to extend my congratulations on the success of this competition. I also thank the main committee of the contest which evaluated works in a practical way through visits to the educational districts.” Siham al Saidi
