Ministry shuts down sweets factory for using plastic after video goes viral

The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR) said that it had ordered the closure of a sweets /halwa factory, which used the plastic buckets in the preparation of candies. Earlier on Friday, a video showing some expatriate workers using plastic buckets in the preparation of candies went viral with criticisms that the process violated all healthy and hygiene safety norms. The ministry said that all factories and sweets/halwa shops should comply with the requirements and specifications. Strict legal action will be taken against the violators.
