Food prepared for commercial distribution seized in Barka

MUSCAT: The Department of Consumer Protection in Barka, in cooperation with the local police, seized a large amount of food meant for distribution that failed to meet health safety requirements. The authority received an information about the employment of expatriate labourers to prepare large quantities of food in a rented house in Barka without obtaining the necessary approvals from the concerned authorities. While raiding the house, authorities found that the minimum healthy safety standards were not maintained by the workers. The commission has appealed to all consumers to communicate in the event of such violations to eliminate illegal practices and maintain health and safety standards.
