Sultanate to digitise United Nations audiovisual archives

MUSCAT: The United Nations has handed over the first part of the UN digitalised audiovisual archive to the Sultanate within the framework of a support programme presented by the Sultanate for digitising the UN audiovisual archive on the occasion of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage. This happened when the Sultanate’s Representative to the UN, Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali al Harthi received Alison Smale, Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications who expressed the UN’s thanks and appreciation for the Sultanate’s contribution. It is worth pointing out that the cooperation programme states that the Sultanate will procure copies of the UN archive following its digitalisation as well training for Omani nationals from the UN on document archiving and digitalisation. — ONA
