20 in race for Sultan Qaboos Award for Industrial Efficiency

MUSCAT: The evaluation of the factories that applied for Sultan Qaboos Award for Industrial Efficiency for the year 2017-2018 will start from November 5 this year till January 14. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry clarified that the number of factories and facilities competing for the award has reached 20. Ebtisam bint Muhammad al Alawya, Acting Director of Industrial Development Department in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, said: “The Ministry has set up a special award for the most innovative industrial facilities. Some of the previous standards were amended to be in line with international models and practices. This is for the continuous development of all industrial processes efficiently and with high quality, to cope with the current and the future phase when it comes to technological development.” Al Alawya said: “The evaluation model for the award this year is relying on TQM. The factories and companies were provided with a report including the points of strengths and the aspects that require improvement. Moreover, the companies can measure and follow up with the improvement to be distinguished in their performance through the facility evaluation report.” The registration for the competition was open for small, medium and big industrial institutions and companies from July 14 until October 8. The registration period was extended to give the chance for bigger segment of factories to compete and also due to the requests from some factories.
