MUSCAT: League leaders Al Suwaiq defeated Fanja 2-1 to maintain their stranglehold over the top spot in the Omantel League on Friday. Meanwhile, second-placed Al Shabab held Saham to a 1-1 draw while Al Nasr, occupying the third slot, thumped Suhar 5-2. In other matches on Friday, Al Salam registered a 1-0 win over Dhofar while Muscat beat Mirbat 3-1. Al Nahda and Al Mudhaibi played out drab goalless draws with Al Oruba and Oman Club respectively.
