Rain relief efforts draw praise

Muscat, Dec 19 - The image of a police officer carrying in his arms a small boy trapped in his house after heavy rains went viral on social media, earning praise for the concern shown in rescuing the rain-hit. Both the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and the Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulance (PACDA) drew applause for their efforts in saving lives after torrential rains across the country. While some highlighted the efforts of ROP and PACDA on social media, others focused on the efforts of regional municipalities in clearing the streets and houses of rainwater. There were calls urging the public to be part of such cleaning campaigns. The municipalities built water drainage channels along the main roads and the central areas to absorb large quantities of water. Fahad Al Ghadani
