Omani wins best master’s degree in international sports management

SEOUL: Khalid bin Ali al Riyami received the Best Master’s Degree in International Sports Management from Seoul National University among 28 students representing 24 countries. The study entitled ‘Relationship among Professional Athletes: Local and International and the Participation of Omani Youth in Sports.’ It dealt with the relationship between Omani youth and their passion for international and local professional athletes, and the extent to which these athletes influence youth behaviour and their contribution to raising the pace of sport. Khalid bin Ali al Riyami told ONA that ‘The duration of the programme was 18 months and included 30 subjects in the field of sports management, in addition to the requirement of a master’s thesis.’ It also included many specialised lectures in the field of sports and visits to enterprises, institutions and sports companies in South Korea. Khalid is the first Gulf citizen and the fourth Arab to join the programme so far. The Seoul National University ranks 11th in Asia and 36th in the world, and in Sports Science ranks seventh globally. — ONA
