Cop killed, 2 hurt in tragic incident at Muscat City Centre

Royal Oman Police has said that one of its members on duty has been killed at the Muscat City Centre in a tragic incident on Saturday. ROP said that there was enough evidence to show that the suspect was a mentally ill and a knife (white weapon) was used in the crime.  The accused has been arrested and the case has been referred to further action. Two others were also injured in the incident. ROP has confirmed the pictures and video that is being circulated with related to the incident. Offering it condolences, ROP extended their deepest condolences to the family of the deceased and we call Almighty Allah to inspire them with patience. ROP's Captain Mohammed bin Salam al-Hashami said that the injured person is receiving treatment at the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital and his condition is stable. The accused offender also suffered a minor injury and is receiving treatment in the same hospital. ROP added said as the accused was walking in the corridors of Muscat City Center, a ROP patrol team was sent to the location. As the victim (policeman) reached very close to the offender, a direct assault was launched, which led to his death after a fatal injury.
