The Muscat Electricity Distribution Company will launch Thabit which enables subscribers to pay a fixed amount of money every month. Salman bin Ali al Hattali, head of supply operations, said the fixed bill will be calculated based on the subscriber’s average monthly consumption over 12 months and the actual bills will be settled at the end of the year by comparing the actual consumption with the amounts paid through the Thabit system. The actual consumption will be calculated in accordance with the company’s meter reading system. By using Thabit system subscribers can avoid paying high electricity bills during summer months and enables them to control their monthly expenses.
