MUSCAT: A number of wilayats of the Sultanate on Tuesday experienced moderate to heavy rains causing some wadis to overflow and disrupting the traffic movement in some places. The rains were accompanied by active winds and a notable decrease in temperatures. The latest weather prediction charts issued by the Directorate-General of Meteorology at the Public Authority for Civil Aviation (Oman Met office) shows that scattered rains are likely to continue as a result of a trough of low pressure currently affecting the Sultanate’s weather. The weather is predicted to be fine or partly cloudy over Musandam Governorate and some parts of the coastal areas of the Sea of Oman and Hajar Mountains with chances of scattered rains and fine weather in the rest of the governorates. RAIN LIKELY IN AL SHARQIYAH: Meanwhile, there is a possibility of rain moving towards the Al Sharqiyah Governorate on Wednesday, said the Met Office. It also sees a slight chance of rain in Muscat. The current weather condition is because of low pressure in coastal areas of Oman Sea. “It is a weak trough, which is why only isolated rains have been experienced,” said the Met Office. There could be a drop in temperatures in the next three days. Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected over Oman Sea.
