E-car charging station to be unveiled today

MUSCAT: The first electric car charging station in Muscat will be unveiled at the InterContinental Muscat on Monday, to add up to a unit that was officially installed in Suhar on Sunday. In partnership with the e-mobility think tank Global EVRT, InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) is unveiling around 10 charging stations at its hotels in the Middle East, including Crowne Plaza Sohar, Muscat and the InterContinental Muscat. According to a statement by IHG, it has installed over 100 charging stations in its hotels in various countries over the past six months. An electric vehicle test drive was held at Sultan Qaboos University parking on Sunday. A future mobility roundtable discussion will be held on Monday to highlight the important strategies for the future of electric vehicles in the Sultanate. InterContinental Hotels Group said it has partnered with e-mobility think tank Global EVRT for the ‘Electric Vehicle Road Trip Middle East 2018’, starting on January 18 with an inaugural event at Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi. The Electric Vehicle Road Trip Middle East is a nine-day electric vehicle road trip of more than 1,200km through two countries in the Middle East (UAE and Oman) in January 2018. The aim of the road trip is to demonstrate the capabilities of electric vehicles and to give people a unique and first-hand experience of the technology.
