Salalah Port provides STS bulk cargo transfer

SALALAH: Salalah Port completed the first bulk cargo transfer from ship to ship (STS) in the waiting area (Al Mukhtaf) as part of its initiatives to provide various services for 2018. The operation was conducted by Fendercare Marine, one of the world’s leading operators in this field. The process included transfer of vegetable oil from NCC Nasma to the Ariana while the vessels anchored in the waiting area. Andrew Dawes, CEO of Salalah Port, said that the port’s vision is to make the customer supply chain works more efficiently and at a lower cost while increasing security levels. Tom Vecchio, Development Director at Fendercare said, “We look forward to Salalah being the main location for this type of operation, as Salalah Port, in cooperation with Fendercare can play an important role in supporting the oil and gas market”. — ONA
