SUHAR: Al Batinah International School (ABIS) recently welcomed 18 staff from the Directorate General of Education in North Al Batinah. The visit was an opportunity for the school to showcase its International Baccalaureate (IB) programme to the visitors. They attended workshops highlighting an overview and the assessment management of the programme. They also visited the classrooms and observed how the concept-based, inquiry-driven instruction is being applied from K-12. The visitors also had a chance to visit the newly-opened state-of-the-art learning centres, theatre/gym and aquatic centre. ABIS is a non-profit school celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. It is one of the five IB World Schools in Oman and has recently become CIS accredited. The School has also been authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP) to elementary students since 2010, followed by the Diploma Programme (DP) in 2013. ABIS is currently seeking authorization to run the Middle Years Programme (MYP). Al Batinah International School (ABIS) was set up in 2007 by Sohar Aluminium and is now co-funded by Sohar Aluminium and Orpic.
