The Ministry of Health, in response to repeated requests, has said that citizens can pay cash at health centres if they do have or for any reason is not able to use a bank card. A statement from the ministry said that there is no objection to the collection of fees in cash in the absence of a bank credit or debit card. The statement said that the healthcare employees should the collect the fees in cash in the absence of a bank card and noted that anyone who deprives the patient of any service will be subject to legal accountability. The Ministry had earlier issued a circular on the need to use bank cards in the collection of fees owed to the Ministry.
