Prices of GCC consumer goods see a rise of 4.2 pc

May 10-- Figures released by the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf show that the consumer prices for the GCC countries witnessed an increase of 4.2 percent in March 2018 compared to the same month of March last year (excluding housing).
According to the statistics issued on Wednesday by the GCC Statistical Center, tobacco group witnessed a rise of 54.9 percent, food and beverages 4.4 percent, education 2.8 percent, health 2.6 per cent, miscellaneous 2.3 per cent, culture and leisure 2.2 percent, and furniture and equipment 1.7 percent. In contrast, prices of clothing and footwear decreased by 0.2 percent.
