Cyclone Mekunu weakens to tropical depression

The latest weather charts and satellite imageries of the National Multi Hazard & Early Warning Center indicate weakening of the deep depression to tropical depression with possibilities of isolated rain, occasional thundershowers over Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates, associated with fresh winds within coming 12 hours. The wind speed has dropped to  17-27 knots (31-50 km/h) while the sea state continues to be rough along Dhofar and Al-Wusta coasts with maximum wave height ranges between 3 to 6m. Along the coastal areas of South Al-Sharqiya, sea state will be rough with maximum wave height ranges between 2 to 3m.
