With just one round remaining in the Omantel League, Oman Club, Al Mudhaibi and Al Salam are in line to be relegated to First Division. The three clubs occupy the last three slots in the league standings with Al Salam at the basement with 27 points and Oman Club and Al Mudhaibi having 28 points. Al Salam suffered a setback to their hopes of avoiding demotion when they went down 1-0 to Dhofar. Oman Club and Al Mudhaibi did not do themselves a favour as they played out a 1-1 draw and remained in the relegation zone. Nine-time league champions Fanja, who have 30 points after their 1-0 victory against league winners Al Suwaiq, would look to avoid relegation by atleast pocketing one point in the final round. Abdulrahman al Ghassani scored the winner for Fanja against Al Suwaiq. Meanwhile, Saham and Muscat are also not out of danger with 30 points each and would try for a win in their last games. Saham emerged a comfortable 3-1 winner over Al Shabab to jump to ninth spot (30 points) while Al Shabab freezed at second placed with 42 points. Meanwhile, Mirbat secured an important 4-0 victory against Muscat as they climbed to eight place with 32 points. The HM Cup runner up, Sohar, scored a narrow 2-1 win over Al Nasr. Surry Ibrahim was the hero of the match as he netted both the goals. Al Oruba finished their match against Al Nahdha with a narrow 1-0 win. The final round of league matches will be held on Sunday. Champions Al Suwaiq will wrap up their campaign with a game against Sohar. Al Nasr will take on Saham while Al Oruba will play against Muscat at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. Fanja will travel to Al Buraimi to take on Al Nahdha at Al Buraimi sports complex. The closest teams to relegation Oman, Al Mudhaibi and Al Salam will play against Al Shabab, Dhofar and Mirbat respectively.
