Muscat, June 9 - Except for Dhofar, other governorates witnessed severe heatwave on Saturday. Even the capital recorded a high temperature of 47.5 degrees Celsius around noon on Saturday, which dropped to around 40.5 degrees Celsius by around 2.45 pm. “We can expect some drop in the temperatures to around mid-forties in the following days with the blowing of the easterly winds from the sea,” an Oman Met official said. The desert and mountainous areas are expected to have temperatures in the range of 48 to 49 degrees Celsius in the coming days. Khabourah, Rustaq, Ibri, Amerat, Nizwa and Sur recorded temperatures in the range of 46 to 48 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
