Eid al Fitr likely on Friday

MUSCAT: Astronomical calculations made by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs signalled possibility for sighting the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal on Wednesday. Accordingly, Friday will probably be the first day of Eid al Fitr. The new moon appears in Muscat at 11:43 pm on Wednesday. The crescent moon will descent at 7:35 pm on Thursday while sunset will occur at 6:55 pm which means the moon will descent 40 minutes after sunset at a height of 8 degrees on the western horizon. — ONA
