Oman sailing team enters competitions zone, Barakat bows out

MUSCAT, August 26 - It was disappointment for Oman at the Asian Games on Sunday as star sprinter Barakat al Harthy failed to qualify for the 100 metres final. Barakat finished a lowly fifth with a timing of 10.33 seconds. The Oman contingent was hoping for Barakat to qualify for the final considering the sprinter had trained well and is very experienced. However, Barakat had to crash out struggling to bring his best when it really mattered. Oman’s technical committee also decided to field Mohammed al Saadi and Ammar al Seifi in the 200 metres on Tuesday. The Oman track team has been practising hard for the 4x100 metre relay event. Oman sailors progress Omani sailors took the fifth place in the Laser and 49IR category to enter the main competition round of the Asian Games. Omani sailor Abdul Malik al Hinai was placed in the fifth position while sailors Waleed al Kindi and Mousab al Hadi held the same position to qualify. Oman hockey team registers win Oman hockey team beat Kazakhstan 4-0 to record its second victory in the competition. The Oman team will play Malaysia and would be vying for the fifth-sixth place if they managed to beat Malaysia.
