Tuesday is first day of Muharram

MUSCAT: Moon of Muharram 1440 AH was not sighted this evening (Sunday). Thus, tomorrow, Monday is the last day of Dhul Hijjah 1439 AH, corresponding to September 10, 2018. Tuesday will be the first day of Muharram 1440 AH, corresponding to September 11, according to the statement issued by the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs on Sunday. On the occasion of the New Hijri Year, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs extended sincere greetings to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, praying to the Almighty Allah for the return of this occasion on His Majesty for many years to come, and on Oman with welfare and progress, and the Islamic Nation with blessings and prosperity.
