15 restaurants closed in Buraimi

Buraimi: The Al Buraimi Municipality in cooperation with Directorate-General of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources carried out an inspection campaign on food establishments and commercial stores.

A total of 98 commercial stores and food establishments were inspected during the campaign in which 15 were shut down. The inspectors issued 61 violations and destroyed 81kg of foods.

The campaign aimed to ensure the safety of foods and compliance with standards specifications set by the municipal authorities.

It was also aimed at increasing awareness among the workers of restaurants and coffee shops on importance of cleanliness, personal hygiene and the proper ways for storing food items.

Periodical and surprise inspections come within the framework of the efforts being taken by the municipality to control he markets and ensure safety of food items.
