New Delhi India's Supreme Court today said that the Aadhaar scheme that collects biometric data from every citizen and assigns a national identity card to them does not violate the right to privacy and is constitutionally valid, the Indian media reports said. The court at the same time said that private firms cannot insist on Aadhaar information:
  1. Mobile phone companies cannot seek Aadhaar number
  2. Bank account does not have to be linked to your Aadhaar
  3. Schools cannot seek child's Aadhaar details for admission
  4. Aadhaar should be linked to your PAN information for the filing of your tax returns
