The Oman Astronomical Society and the Photographic Society of Oman (PSO) is launching tonight, October 1st, the Astronomical photography exhibition 2018 in the headquarters of PSO in Seeb under the auspices of Sayyid Kamil bin Fahad Al Said. The exhibition will feature 42 beautiful astronomical photos from the 30 participating photographers. The images are centered on two themes: the creative theme which highlights the beauty of the sky, the light of the stars and their motion, and the galaxies. The other theme focuses on the astronomical elements of the space — the planets, galaxies in the vast space, which are rounded by astronomical telescopes. This exhibition is the first of its kind in the Sultanate to highlight the beauty of the sky and to encourage amateur astronomers and photographers to show their creativity in the field of astronomical photography. It also put on spotlight the concern of light pollution that deprives us to enjoy the splendor of the night sky. The exhibition will include a number of associated activities such as astronomical photo processing workshop, which will be presented by astronomer Majid al Farei, member of the Astronomical Society of Oman, and the stars photography workshop by FIAP outstanding member Omar al Busaidi, member of the Photographic Society of Oman. The exhibition will run from tonight to October 10, 2018. MAI AL ABRIA
