Saplings planted in Dhofar

Salalah: A total of 600 saplings have been planted at Khor Al Mughsayl and Awqad in the governorate of Dhofar, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs (MECA) said on Monday. The saplings were planted as part of a campaign to rehabilitate the cities in Dhofar that were affected by cyclone Mekunu. In a statement online MECA said, “The Ministry carried out a campaign to cultivate 600 seedlings of Avicennia plants (locally known as Qurum) in cooperation with the Municipality of Dhofar. Avicennia plants prevent erosion, stabilise shorelines and provide habitat for a diverse array of fish and other land creatures.
