Ministry clarifies on meat shop closure in Ibra

Muscat: The  Directorate General of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources in the North Sharqiyah Governorate has denied reports about the closure of a shop for preparing meat with cats and donkeys.

A circular released by the ministry said 'reports about the closure of a shop for preparing meat from donkeys and cat meat is not true'.

It added that workers' accommodation were used to prepare the meat in rooms that did not meet hygienic requirements. 

The Ibra Municipality on Sunday had raided the workers' accommodation for preparing the meat in the rooms that lacked sanitary conditions. 

The quantities of 'unfit' meat were destroyed and legal procedures have been initiated.
