Ministry warns against sale of toxic fish

Muscat: The Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries has warned against the circulation, sale and consumption of toxic fish as per the Omani Fish Quality Control Regulations. It added that fishermen should dispose these fish, if caught, in the correct manner.  Last week, the National Poison Control Center of Ministry of Health’s Directorate General of Diseases Control & Surveillance responded to a number of (six) critical cases with symptoms of acute poisoning due to consuming the poisonous puffer fish.
