Crackdown on misuse of public parks

MUSCAT, dec 22 - With the support of Royal Oman Police, the Urban Inspection Department of Muscat Municipality conducted a campaign at several public open grounds and parks in the city. A number of people were fined for causing damage to the green areas on charges under the administrative decision 55/2017. The municipality has urged residents and citizens to keep the beaches and parks clean for visitors who follow them. It added that the person who disposes of waste in non-designated places shall be slapped with a fine of RO 100 and the offender shall be given a one-day deadline to transport the waste to the designated places, and in the case of repetition of the crime, fine shall be doubled.
