114,077 surgeries performed in 2017

MUSCAT: The Sultanate’s hospitals and health institutions performed 114,077 surgeries in 2017 including 50,656 major and 63,412 minor, according to statistics published by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI). Most of them were performed at Khoula Hospital (7,616), accounting for 15 per cent of major operations. A total of 14,184 (22.4 per cent of minor operations) were performed at health centres. Outpatient clinics of the Ministry of Health received 15,792,546 patients including 14,994,707 Omani patients. Private outpatient clinics received 3,868,742 patients in 2017 including 1,958,757 Omani patients.
