Muscat Festival weaves spell of magic

MUSCAT, JAN 22 - While Amerat Park and Naseem Garden are main venues of the Muscat Festival, the festivities are spread across different areas in the city. On Tuesday evening, a comedy play ‘Salbookh & His family’, was staged at City Amphitheatre, Qurum Natural Park. A show jumping event is being held on the weekend. Organised in cooperation with Oman Equestrian Federation, it will take place at Rahba Farm in Barka on January 26. Since Monday, the Fine Arts exhibition held at the Cultural Corner of Amerat Park has had the theme, ‘Historical Profiles’. The theme will continue until February 1. In addition to the wilayats’ competition, another contest that literary enthusiasts are waiting for is the ‘Folk Poetry Competition’ at Omani Society for Writers. Meanwhile, the Heritage Village at Naseem Garden has been featuring Omani bangles and khanjars, all silver crafts, an exhibition has been featuring the weaving and spinning of wool. Children start their journey to the festival at 4 pm, heading towards the rides and other fun games, including the bumping cars.
