Show jumping steals limelight

Muscat, Jan 26 - The weekend at the Muscat Festival has been exciting with a Show Jumping Championships being held at Al Rahba Farm in Barka. Wilayat of Al Suwaiq showcased at the festival ground the process of collecting palm fronds for rope-making to be used in traditional house-building, especially the roof. Suwaiq also showcased its agricultural environment. Traditional games played in the wilayat were also highlighted at Amerat Park, one of the festival venues, to the delight of the children. Wilayat of Sur’s presentation on Friday saw a huge turnout. Muscat Festival also announced ‘Dinner Experience Under Darkness’ at the Faculty of Arts, Sultan Qaboos University, on February 4 and 5. The first day is open for men and the second day for women. As part of the festival, a short documentary film competition is also being held. The weekend saw exciting rounds of Oman Oil Marketing’s International Drift Championship at the Muscat Festival. The first position was bagged by James Dean from Ireland, followed by Piotr Visek from Poland and Ahmed Dahham from Jordan.
