Over 100 athletes take part in Oman Para Athletics

MUSCAT: More than 100 athletes took part in the third edition of Oman Para Athletic Meeting, organised by the Oman Paralympic Committee at Sultan Qaboos Sport Complex in Bausher on January 26. The championship was held under the patronage Dr Khamis bin Saud al Tobi, Director-General of Administrative Development of the Diwan of Royal Court. Eshraqa, Khimji Ramdas’ social development arm, sponsored the event. Over 100 participants with motor, visual, and mental disability and cerebral palsy competed in a number of games including 100m and 200m sprints, long jump, shot put, javelin, discus, and club throw. Along with the Paralympic Committee, a number of volunteers from Sultan Qaboos University’s Sport and Society group, and a number of Eshraqa employees participated in the organisation of the event. At the end of the meeting, Dr Khamis Saud al Tobi, awarded the winners alongside Nailesh Khimji, Director, Khimji Ramdas, and Akram Saif al Maawli, Vice-Chairman of the Paralympic Committee of Oman. A number of Paralympic Committee members and families of the participating athletes attended the award ceremony.
