In a unique treat for art connoisseurs in Oman, a collection of 16 paintings by eight Omani and Indian artists on the theme of ‘Empowering Families by Empowering Women — A valued perception’ — will be on display at the Indian Embassy Auditorium on February 6. Titled ‘Colours 2019’, conceptualised and presented by BHAVALAYA, a global platform for the promotion of Art and Culture, the day will also witness a traditional Bharathanatyam performance by renowned danseuses Padmini Krishnamurthy and Kumari Shivani Krishnamurthy who will wow the audience with their stupendous movements and a repute that transcends geographical boundaries. Their performance will be based on the theme, “Different Perspectives of Womanhood”. Munu Mahawar, Ambassador of India in Oman, will be the chief guest. A motivational book authored by a Muscat-resident, Amina Yusra on self-empowerment, ‘The Magical Voyage of the Phoenix’ will be launched at the event managed by Eazy Touch Active Media. “This is a unique convergence of women who have excelled in art, dance and literary arenas who can share their thoughts and inspire the rest”, Dr J Retnakumar, Founder and Chairman of Bhavalaya told the Observer. Gates will be open at 6 pm and visitors can view the paintings by Omani and Indian artists followed by an interaction with the artists till the main event begins at 7 pm. Dr Yasmeen Al Balushi, Dean, Muscat College will be the guest of Honour while Dr Shamsa al Harthy, General Director, Dar Al Atta, Sushmita Gupta, a renowned artist and poetess will deliver their speeches on the topic.
