Oman crosses 300 mark in corneal transplants

Muscat: Oman has performed more than 300 corneal transplant operations as of the end of October 2026, following the reactivation of its corneal transplantation programme and the expansion of its services.

The achievement is expected to help reduce waiting lists and ensure that more patients receive specialised treatment within the Sultanate, without having to travel abroad.

The Ministry of Health said the programme's resumption and expansion form part of efforts to strengthen specialised healthcare services and improve access to advanced eye treatment locally.

The development marks progress in Oman's capacity to provide specialised eye care and meet the growing demand for corneal transplantation services
