Muttrah Cable Car set for soft launch on Sunday

MUSCAT: Visitors to Muttrah will soon get a bird’s-eye view of one of Oman’s most historic coastal regions as the Muttrah Cable Car project opens its doors for a public soft launch on Sunday.
The new attraction will run on a split schedule, operating from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday through Wednesday, and extending hours from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Thursday through Saturday. Final ticket sales and boarding for each window will take place one hour before closing.
Equipped with 18 cabins—including two premium VIP options—the system can seat up to eight passengers per cabin, allowing the cable car to move up to 800 passengers per hour across the skyline.
Designed to offer a unique route over Muttrah’s distinct landscape, the journey connects three key stops:
Port Station: Set between the Muttrah Fish Market and the Muttrah Waterfront project near the cruise ship terminal and Muttrah Souq, this hub serves as the main entry point equipped with visitor reception, ticketing, and cafes.
Summit Station: Perched elevated between Muttrah Fort and Al Riyam Park, offering scenic views over the local terrain.
Hay Al Ward Station: The final stop, located within the park near Muscat Gate.
