Do not hand over your civil ID card for contract approval: MoL

Muscat: Oman’s Ministry of Labour has urged workers to approve their employment contracts online themselves and to keep their civil ID cards in their possession during the process.

In an advisory aimed at curbing fictitious employment, the ministry said workers should avoid handing their civil ID cards to employers or anyone else for the purpose of approving a contract on their behalf. It said completing the approval personally helps protect workers’ personal data and employment rights.

The ministry also reminded workers and employers to follow the prescribed procedures when completing employment contracts.
